The start of the Lacoste brand
In 1933, after retiring from tennis, Rene Lacoste founded La Chemise Lacoste.
This in association with AndrŠ¹ Gillier, owner and president of the largest French knitwear manufacturing company during that time.
The two of them began to produce the revolutionary tennis shirt Lacoste which displays the crocodile logo. This shirt went down to the history of the tennis courts and is still active in the market to date.
